I saw a pic on Rob's twitter that shows the two ingame factions "Fluffytons" and "Death Bringers", so im assuming there will be diplomacy.
I'm not sure how Rob will design the diplomacy feature, but im hoping it'll be similar to the Total War diplomacy feature.
You could make alliances, request trading, declare war, and request peace. But of course, DON'T copy Total War's diplomacy. Here's my ideas...
Diplomatic Options -
- Requesting allies at a certain location (Depends on your approval rates *see below*)
- Requesting addition troops aboard your station (Same as above)
- Threats (Depends on your army/navy's strength to work)
- Assimilating a smaller faction into yours
- Forcing a faction to do something
Diplomatic features -
- Approval is gained through how you deal with random events*
- The more approval you have, the easier diplomacy gets.
- The less approval you have, the harder diplomacy gets.
- Other factions will disapprove of alliance betrayals, and are more likely to declare war on you
- The bigger your navy/army, the more willing/intimidated smaller factions will be
- If a faction attacks you, other factions may join either your side or their side according to your approval rates.
- Not all factions will be affected by your choices. Some may approve, some won't.
*Random events -
Miners have a dispute over each other
Traders claim to have gotten scammed
Someone acuses your ship of attacking a peaceful ship
Someone pressures CEO about taking action against local pirates
Your forces capture a rebellious protester.
Depending on how you deal with events, using force, words, or doing nothing will affect your approval ratings, which in turn affects your diplomatic abilities.
But of course, this is an ideas thread. Keep up the good work Rob, EA2 will be a big hit!
