When the game launches the protestor mode will probably not be implemented as ideas like that need fleshing out and will be developed during the early access phase. Any suggestions? Currently people join in a small ship and attack to gain badges.

Alright...let me think of a few ideas hm... ok! number one - a sector in the map randomly if a Protester base, like how in sins of a soler empire there is a pirate base filled with pirates and a station, there could be one for the protesters that spawn form the base..as they attack and destroy stuff the CEO's have, they could get some short of coins, which then they can use to get better gear and or ships from the protester base! Here is a image of what I see something like this looking like i.imgur.com/ZJAs701.png2. Protesters have the ablity to teleport, so, they can teleport right onto a bridge of a ship and take it over, or, into the armory of a CEO Station and "steel" some armor and tech for there own use! cant think of any more right now...but when I can I will post more!

Further more if they can get a hold of a production line they claim all unites that line makes while they are queuing them up. Also if the protestor have their own base to run back too with the tech they can integrate it into their system and effectively steal the technology and make their own copies/adaptation of it. Granted if the executives want to get back at them they could always raid/destroy the protestors base causing them to lose the technology. So in hence the protestor base is cloaked and always moving if their base is shot the cloak field goes down for a minute and if they base is destroyed then a new one will appear after set amount of time or if the protestors get away with a large frigate and then proclaim it to be their new base to give them a jump start. Then they'll just keep adding to it.

Currently people join in a small ship and attack to gain badges. I’m not sure what “badges” are in this context, but in terms of ideas it would be cool if there were protester waves that occasionally spawn, but start out as small and weak forces. Player protesters can perhaps respawn on a much shorter timer.
To make them a threat in mid and late game, it would be interesting if they were rewarded with a nondescript currency of some kind they could use to increase the quantity of the ships that spawn in AI waves as a reward for damaging and destroying CEO-controlled stuff. They might all be able to buy tech that the majority of CEO players have researched, but at a costly price.
Alternatively, they can steal technology from research outposts, or maybe by hacking an enemy ship via some kind of mini game? Eh maybe that’d be too hard to implement.
There could be an AI “personality” randomly chosen for Protesters if there are no player protesters. These would be very simply dictating what they would focus on. “Raiders” target mining ships to steal iron, “Swarmers” mainly build lots of fighters and cheap little ships, contrast with “Steamrollers” who prefer bigger ships albeit less of them. There could also be “Technophiles” who put more effort into acquiring the technology of the CEO players. “Conquistadors” could be another that focuses purely on attacking CEOs directly.
I do think that units bought for waves should remain part of future waves. Players should also be able to upgrade their ship and respawn with the wave if they choose to.
i apologize for the unorganized mess of my post, it was very late when I wrote this, haha, hopefully I contributed.
