Hello Rob.
I am Loku, I found the first Executive Assault quite some time ago, and played it for about 2 or 3 hours. It was great, the FPS RTS combo was amazing, but I felt it lacked some things. After some googling I learned a second game was planned, and resigned myself to waiting for its release.
Recently, I got bored, and reopened it and began exploring deeper into the game. For example, I had NEVER researched radar. In its current state, the radar was useless since I could kinda see everything already. There was neither minimap nor FoW. I did it tho, for the heck of it, and HOLY CRAP THERES A SUPERWEAPON? DEATH LASERS FROM SPACE KINDA CRAP THIS IS AWESOME.
After that I did some more exploring and discovered there was really a LOT crammed into this game, a LOT of cool stuff. Gigantic robots, fighters, everything except a navy, and all of it was controllable in first person (flying is REALLY hard.) So I looked further into the second game, excited, and found myself in a bittersweet moment....The game is set for this year, its coming along, there are trailers, combat, improved mechanics, refinement, the works! Lovely! And space combat! OHGODYES.
But....Land combat seems to be gone.
I am only 19. Not that old in comparison to many. But I have been playing RTS games since I was 4 or 5. Army Men RTS, Command and conquer generals.... Classics. The total War series. Orion. And so many others.
There is something special about a good old fashioned Land fight.
The absolute BEST space RTS I have played is the Homeworld series. But the developers of Homeworld recognized the classical feel of a fleet of tanks rolling over a battlefield, and so was born their Deserts of Kharak game.
And now...We have you. You have done something TRULY unique within the RTS world, that same feel of tanks and large units rolling out, and threw in the FPS gameplay WONDERFULLY. There is nothing more visceral, vivid, and exhilarating than controlling your first Gigantilator, let me tell you. It was a memory, a memory of something genuinely FANTASTIC.Bugs, issues, lack of online players aside, NOTHING compares to that feeling, because it has never been done in quite the same way you did it in the first EA. It was gripping.
The addition of space combat and all the fantastic new graphics and such... Yes. So much yes, spacecombat first person is just awesome. And I understand that there will be indoor combat within space stations and such but... does that mean the memories of that classical land fight to the death are being abandoned, that the rumble of controlling a Fortitude tank straight into the enemies backside is going to be gone, that the memories created as a result of the gripping thrill of leading a huge force in first person across a hill into the enemies base and storming said base with an army of infantry will be gone?
I love the new ideas, the new concepts, all of it. But EA1 is older now, unupdated and forgotten in the wake of the newer, better game, and with it the glorious fights for control of a planet.
I understand that maybe its not in the plan at all right now but... eventually, someday, would it be possible for you to bring that back, to mix it with the glory of the new game and its space combat somehow, perhaps a campaign for galactic control including land fights for control of key planets, or land only gameplay modes like the first game, or a mix of land and space? Something, whatever you want as the developer. I just want to know if its POSSIBLE for it to eventually return, as an avid lover of RTS and a HUGE fan of specifically you and the games you have made/are making.
Thank you for reading.
